General

Below are some questions about wall preparation, measuring and installation.

What material are your wallpapers printed on?

We recommend ordering samples first.

Luxe Traditional: A substantial traditional paper featuring a satin finish with subtle sand-like texture, delivering exceptional longevity and an elegant, upscale appearance.

Peel & Stick: A sleek, matte vinyl featuring self-stick backing that delivers a contemporary, streamlined appearance with simple installation and clean removal.

Luxe Peel & Stick: A high-quality, adhesive-backed option that combines the seamless edges and enhanced texture of our Luxe collection with the convenience of removable vinyl. Engineered for simple installation while delivering an impeccable, luxury finish.

What size is our wallpaper?
Size & Coverage Guide:

Panel Size & Installation Direction
• Each panel measures 19" wide and must be installed left to right to ensure seamless pattern alignment.

Panel Order Matters
• Panels are custom-printed in a specific sequence so the design lines up correctly.
• All panels are numbered—please install them in numerical order. Installing panels out of order will cause the pattern not to match.

Installer Recommendation
• We strongly suggest hiring a professional wallpaper installer to achieve the best possible outcome.

Recommended Adhesive for Luxe Traditional Wallpaper
• For best results, we recommend using Roman Pro-880 wallpaper adhesive. This provides a smooth, professional-quality installation.

Why should I order samples?

Choosing the right wallpaper can completely transform a space — and we want you to feel confident before committing to a full wall. That’s why we offer samples of every design we carry, so you can see, feel, and experience the print in your own home first. Each sample measures 8" x 11" and is thoughtfully created to give you a true sense of the design.

Your sample includes:

A Scaled-Down Full View
See the entire pattern reduced in size so you can understand how the overall design flows across a wall.

A True-to-Scale Section
We include a portion shown at actual size, so you can accurately evaluate the pattern scale, detail, and spacing.

What a Sample Helps You Do

See Colors in Your Own Lighting
Colors can shift depending on natural and artificial light. A sample allows you to see the true tones in your space — morning, afternoon, and evening.

Test Your Wall Surface
Make sure your wall texture and paint finish are compatible before investing in a full order.

Feel the Material
Touch the paper, examine the print quality, and make sure it aligns with your expectations.

Design with Confidence
Place the sample next to your furniture, flooring, fabrics, and décor to ensure everything works beautifully together.

How to Use Your Sample

• Tape it to the wall and observe it throughout the day in different lighting.

• Move it around the room if needed to see how it feels in various spots.

• Compare it directly against paint colors, trim, textiles, and finishes.

• Test adhesion in a discreet area if you're using peel-and-stick.

Wallpaper is a statement — and it should feel just right. Ordering a sample removes the guesswork and gives you peace of mind before you move forward.

How to measure your space?
Measuring Guide:

Measure the Wall Width
 • Using a tape measure, measure the full width of your wall from corner to corner in inches.
 • If you’re covering more than one wall, measure each wall individually and add the widths together.

Measure the Wall Height
• Measure from floor to ceiling at the tallest point of the wall, in inches.
• If your wall has baseboards or molding, measure only the exposed wall area—from the top of the baseboard to the bottom of the molding.

Account for Doors & Windows
• Make note of any doors, windows, or built-ins on the wall.
• These sections don’t need to be wallpapered, but they should still be included in your measurements, as panels are trimmed around them during installation.

Important Note
Panels with different height options cannot be mixed, as this will cause the pattern to misalign. If your installation space includes varying wall heights, all rolls must be ordered according to the tallest wall measurement. Ordering different panel lengths will result in pattern alignment issues due to the vertical design repeat.

How to prepare the wall for wallpaper?
Preparing The Walls:

Smooth, flat walls are perfect for wallpaper installation!

Cleaning your walls thoroughly and allowing them to dry completely before installation is a crucial step. Please DO NOT skip this process, as failing to properly prepare the surface can result in wallpaper peeling, bubbling, or poor adhesion.

We do not offer refunds for issues caused by improper wall preparation. Even if walls appear clean, a fine layer of dust is often present and must be removed to ensure the wallpaper adheres correctly. Proper preparation makes all the difference — please do not disregard this step.

While our Luxe Peel & Stick wallpaper can adhere to lightly textured walls, we strongly recommend purchasing a sample or a 2 ft short panel to test before placing a larger order. Every wall surface is different, and testing beforehand ensures proper adhesion and the best results.

• Walls must be clean, smooth, and free of dust, grease, or chipping paint.
• Ensure all paint is fully cured and dry before applying wallpaper.
• Wallpaper should be applied to smooth walls.
• We are not responsible for adhesion issues on heavily textured, uneven, or unprepared surfaces.

If you’ve wiped your walls with a damp cloth only (water, no heavy soaking), you should allow them to dry for at least 24 hours before applying peel-and-stick wallpaper.

Here’s a simple guideline:

Light wipe with a damp cloth: wait 24 hours
Heavier cleaning (more moisture used): wait 48 hours
Recently painted walls: allow paint to cure for a minimum of 3–7 days (longer is even better, depending on paint type and humidity)

Even if the wall feels dry to the touch, moisture can still be trapped in the paint or texture. Applying too soon can cause:

• Bubbling

• Poor adhesion

• Panels lifting at the seams

The wall should be completely dry, clean, and free of dust before installation. When in doubt, waiting a little longer is always safer than applying too early.

Light to medium textured walls will likely work great with our luxury removable wallpaper as well! Order samples to test how they adhere and perform on your specific surface.

Rough or heavily textured walls (Orange Peel, Knockdown, and Popcorn) require skim coating before installing any wallcovering to ensure proper adhesion.

Recently painted surfaces need a 30-day curing period before wallpaper application to allow the paint to fully set and release gases.

Important: Install a test swatch to confirm longevity prior to placing a larger order.

How to install wallpaper?
Installation Guide:

Installing wallpaper can be a satisfying DIY project if you take your time and prep properly. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you install wallpaper like a pro—this applies to most traditional and peel-and-stick wallpapers.

What you will need:

• Wallpaper panels

• Wallpaper paste (for unpasted paper)

• Smoothing tool or wallpaper brush

• Utility knife & straightedge

• Level or plumb line

• Measuring tape & pencil

• Seam roller (optional)

• Sponge & clean water (for paste cleanup)

Step-by-Step Wallpaper Installation

• Start by selecting the wall height that most closely matches your measured wall height. All panels in an order must be the same height.

• Once the height is selected, calculate how many 19" wide panels are needed to fully cover the width of your wall. Please use our calculator for better results.

• Panels are printed in a specific sequence and are designed to align only at the selected height.

• Do not order taller panels with the intention of trimming them down, as this will cause the pattern to misalign from panel to panel.

• Mixing panel heights within the same installation will not work and will result in an uneven or broken pattern match.

• If you are between sizes, always choose the height that covers your wall and trim the extra.

Final Tips:

• Install in daylight or good lighting.

• Don’t rush—take breaks between strips if needed.

• For textured walls, use a wallpaper liner first.

• Keep scraps in case you need a repair later.

Is wallpaper appropriate for humid environments?

Traditional wallpaper isn't typically suitable for high-moisture environments like bathrooms or kitchens. The humidity and moisture in these spaces can cause traditional wallpaper to peel or buckle.

We always recommend ordering a sample and testing it in your specific space over time to evaluate how well it adheres to your walls.

Important: Install a test swatch to confirm longevity prior to placing a larger order.

Do color tones vary between print batches?
Important Note:

Yes! Please make sure that all of your measurements are accurate and double-checked before placing your order. Wallpaper is custom printed, and dye lots can vary slightly from one print run to another. This means there may be color tone differences between batches printed at different times.

To ensure the most consistent color result across your space, we always recommend ordering your full quantity in one batch. Printing everything at once helps avoid any visible shade variations from panel to panel.

To prevent any disappointment, please take extra care when measuring and calculating the number of panels needed for your project. If you’re unsure, we’re always happy to help review your measurements before you place your order.

Will the self-adhesive material damage my walls?

Our self-adhesive material is designed to remove cleanly and should not leave behind sticky residue or cause paint damage. That said, we can’t guarantee how it will interact with every wall, since paint quality and surface preparation vary. In some cases, small areas of paint may lift or flake, especially if the paint was not properly cured or primed. If that happens, light touch-ups may be needed.

When removing your wallpaper, we recommend peeling it back slowly and gently to help protect the surface underneath.

Please note that Bloom & Wall cannot be held responsible for any damage that may occur during installation or removal.

Can I order panels in different heights for my wall?

Because our wallpaper designs do not have a standard repeating pattern on each panel, we’re unable to offer mixed panel heights for the same wall. Ordering different heights and trying to piece them together can disrupt the flow of the design and result in a mismatched, non-seamless finish.

If you’re unsure how to measure or order for a unique space, we’re always happy to guide you — just reach out and our team will help you figure out the best solution.

Your Wall Preparation Checklist

Starting a wallpaper project is exciting — we get it. But taking a few extra steps before installation will save you from bubbling, peeling, or lifting later on. Proper wall prep is the difference between a flawless finish and future frustration.

Why You Need to Wait After Painting

Paint may feel dry within hours, but that doesn’t mean it’s fully cured. The curing process typically takes 3–4 weeks. During that time, moisture and solvents are still evaporating from the surface.

Applying wallpaper too soon traps those vapors behind the paper, which can eventually cause lifting or bubbling.

Bottom line: Always wait at least 3–4 weeks after the final coat of paint before installing wallpaper.

Pre-Installation Must-Dos

Before you hang your wallpaper, make sure you’ve completed these steps:

Allow Proper Cure Time
Wait a minimum of 3–4 weeks after painting.

1. Clean the Walls
Wipe the entire surface with a slightly damp cloth to remove dust, grease, and debris. Let the wall dry completely before installation.

2. Repair & Smooth
Fill cracks or holes and sand smooth. Even small imperfections can show through wallpaper and affect adhesion.

How to Check if Paint is Ready

Don’t rely on appearance alone — use these quick tests:

Finger Test:
Press your finger lightly against the wall. If it feels tacky or sticky, it’s not fully cured.

Water Test:
Sprinkle a few drops of water on the surface.

  • If the water beads up → the paint is likely cured.
  • If it absorbs into the wall → it needs more time.
Assessing Wall Texture

Peel-and-stick wallpaper performs best on smooth, non-porous surfaces. Texture creates tiny air gaps that prevent full adhesive contact.

Light Texture

Our wallpaper may adhere, but for best results:

  • Apply a high-quality primer to seal the surface
  • Use a small roller during installation to press the adhesive firmly into the texture
Heavy Texture (Orange Peel, Knockdown, Popcorn)

We do not recommend direct application. The most reliable solution is to:

  • Apply a skim coat to smooth the wall
  • Or sand the surface down before priming
Always Test First

Apply a small sample in an inconspicuous area before committing to a full installation.

If the sample:

  • Peels
  • Lifts
  • Bubbles
  • Or appears distorted

A skim coat or additional surface prep is necessary before proceeding.

Paint Finish Compatibility

Your paint finish plays a major role in how well wallpaper adheres.

Why It Matters
  • High-gloss finishes are too slick and lack the microscopic “grip” needed for adhesive.
  • Flat or porous finishes can absorb adhesive, weakening the bond.
Ideal Finishes

Satin, Eggshell, and Semi-Gloss offer the best balance — enough grip for adhesion while still allowing clean removal later.

Surfaces That Require Extra Prep

Glossy Paint:

Lightly sand to create subtle texture, then clean thoroughly.

Flat or Porous Paint:

Apply a high-quality primer to seal the surface so the adhesive bonds properly.

Taking the time to properly prepare your walls ensures a smooth, professional finish — and helps your wallpaper look beautiful for years to come. If you’re unsure about your wall type or finish, we’re always happy to guide you.

Measure Unique Walls

Every wall is a little different, which is why careful measuring is so important before placing your order. Taking the time to measure correctly ensures you receive the right number of panels — and avoids delays or mismatched quantities.

Below is a helpful guide based on common wall types:

Measuring Guide by Wall Type

Standard Flat Walls

• Measure the full width of the wall from side to side.

• Measure the height from floor to ceiling.

• Select the closest height option available. Only round up if your measurement falls between two sizes.

Cathedral or Sloped Walls

• Measure from the floor to the highest point of the slope — this will be your panel height.

• If your measurement falls between sizes, round up. Otherwise, choose the exact height option.

• Measure the full width as usual.

• Divide the total width by 19 inches (panel width) to calculate how many panels you need.

Walls with Windows or Doors

• Measure the entire width of the wall as if the windows and doors were not there.

• Order enough panels to cover the full width.

• The excess material can be trimmed during installation to fit around openings.

Bathrooms or Walls with Fixtures

• Measure around large built-in fixtures, but plan for full-width coverage.

• If installing in a bathroom or near moisture (like a shower area), consider selecting a moisture-resistant wallpaper option.

Ceilings

• Measure the full length and width of the ceiling.

• Divide the width by 19 inches to determine the number of panels required.

• Choose the closest height option available, rounding up only if necessary.

If you’re unsure about your measurements or have an unusual layout, we’re always happy to help guide you before you place your order.

Orders & Shipping

Below are some of common questions about orders, shipping and returns.

Should I order samples and how?

Yes! Samples are available for all our designs, and we highly recommend ordering one to feel the quality of our materials, see the true colors and design proportions in person, and test how it works in your room before purchasing!

Our sample size is 16 × 11 in and shows two views of the design — a close-up of the pattern and a larger, distance view. If you’d like to see the pattern at a larger scale, we recommend purchasing the 2 ft × 19 in sample.

Do you offer international shipping?

We do not currently but will be in the near future. Stay tuned.

When can I expect to receive my order?

We strive to process and ship orders as fast as possible. Custom wallpaper orders require 7-10 business days before shipping since each order is printed specifically for you. Multiple panels may arrive in separate boxes.

Is order tracking available?

All shipments include tracking details. You'll receive your tracking number via email automatically when your order ships.

Troubleshooting Peel & Stick Adhesion Issues

Peel & Stick not sticking? Here’s what to check.

Our peel & stick wallpaper is designed to be simple and stress-free. But if you’re noticing lifting, bubbling, or panels that won’t stay put — don’t panic. In most cases, the issue comes down to prep, environment, or installation technique, and it can usually be corrected.

Here’s how to troubleshoot.

1. Wall Prep: The #1 Reason for Adhesion Problems

Peel & stick wallpaper needs a clean, smooth, sealed surface. If it’s not bonding properly, this is the first place to look.

Clean Thoroughly

Even if walls look clean, they often have invisible dust, grease, or paint residue.

What to do:
Wipe walls with a damp cloth and mild cleaner (or just water). Let dry completely — ideally 24 hours — before installing.

Smooth the Surface

Texture prevents full adhesive contact.

If you have a light texture:
Prime the wall and use firm pressure during installation.

If you have heavy texture (orange peel, knockdown, popcorn):
A skim coat and sanding are strongly recommended before applying peel & stick.

Prime — Even on Fresh Paint

Modern paints (especially stain-resistant or low-VOC) can resist adhesives.

Best solution:
Apply a high-quality acrylic-latex or oil-based primer designed for wallpaper. Let it cure fully (typically 24–72 hours). Primer creates the ideal bonding surface.

2. Temperature & Humidity Matter More Than You Think

Adhesive reacts to its environment.

Ideal Temperature

Install between 65–80°F (18–27°C) and keep the room in that range for at least 48 hours after.

Avoid installing in very cold or very hot rooms.

Balanced Humidity

Aim for 30–50% humidity.
Too humid? Use a dehumidifier.
Too dry? Light humidity before installing can help.

3. Application Technique Makes a Big Difference

Even perfectly prepped walls can have issues if installation isn’t done carefully.

Peel Gradually

Don’t remove all the backing at once.

Instead: Peel a few inches → align → smooth → peel more → continue downward.

Smooth as You Go

Work from the center outward with a felt-edged squeegee or smoothing tool. Apply firm, even pressure across the entire panel.

Air bubbles reduce adhesive contact.

If needed: Lift gently and reapply, or use a pin to release trapped air.

Follow Overlap Instructions

Some designs require a slight overlap. Always follow the instructions included with your specific product.

4. Certain Wall Surfaces Are Challenging

Some surfaces naturally resist adhesion.

⚠ Flat or Matte Paint

Must be primed before installation.

⚠ Glossy Paint

Lightly sand to create grip, then clean thoroughly.

⚠ Rough, Porous Surfaces (Raw drywall, brick, concrete)

Require skim coating, sanding, and priming before wallpaper can adhere properly.

Repositioning Warning

While peel & stick is removable, excessive repositioning weakens the adhesive. For best long-term results, minimize lifting and reapplying once aligned.

If You Notice Lifting After Installation

Here’s what you can try:

• Re-smooth firmly using your tool.
• Gentle heat (low setting hairdryer) can reactivate adhesive in small areas — use cautiously and don’t overheat.
• Temporary spray adhesive may help in discreet areas as a last resort (always test first).

With proper prep, environment control, and installation technique, your peel & stick wallpaper should look beautiful and stay secure for years. If you’re unsure about your wall surface or need guidance, we’re always happy to help troubleshoot with you.
